An Interview With Jan Ferraro How did you first become interested in childbirth education as a career choice? My husband and I reached the decision to start our family before several of our friends and relatives. Afterwards, I found myself being sought ought for help and advise by those same family members and friends. Being invited to help at such a special time in someone's life was a very positive experience for me, so I decided to become certified as a childbirth educator and make it my career. Approximately how many couples have you helped through the transition of becoming new parents? Although I limit the size of my classes, over the years I have helped about 300 families! I especially enjoy it when I receive birth announcements, notes and photographs of the children after they have arrived. What do you like to do when you are not teaching classes? Of course, I like to spend time raising my girls. I also enjoy cooking and doing gardening and other work outside in my yard. Jan Ferraro is happily married to Bob, her husband of 15 years. She is mother to four daughters, Jessica, Jeanette, Jacquelyn, and Jana. The Ferraro family have been North Branford residents since 1996. |
